It is time to start thinking about decorating
our virtual Christmas trees. One of my
favorite tree trims of "days gone by" were
the bubble lights. I have tried to recreate
one to use on my PI tree.
I hope you will try it and add them to
your decorated trees.

This ornament also used a small light
bulb tube--You can download it here and
save it into your PI Stamps folder and
it will be available to use as a stamp.

SMALL BULBS

There are 6 pieces you need to
make with the Path Tool to make this ornament. If you
make them all first then you
can select the pieces you need as you put your bubble light together.
On the left is a screen shot of
all the parts.I have reduced it to 80%

Open new work space 500x 500 white

First make the 3 shapes you will
group for the candle part.
Using the Path tool   2D, color BLACK,
Choose the tear drop shape
and make a tear drop about 25W-50H. This is part #1

Select the rectangle tool. Make a rectangle25W-150H.
This is the tube part of the light--part #2.

Make another rectangle 50W-25H. This is the part that
connects the tube and the top of the base. part#3

To make the screw base #6,
select Round Shape 4 from the presets, make the shape 50W-50H . This is the very
last part you will add to the ornament.

To make  the part # 4--see the
directions below.

We need to make the bottom of the base Part #5..to be able to resize it to use as the top of the base .This is the
part #4 that's merged with the candle.

For the base(bottom) choose path shape tool
2D. color Black , Round Edge 3.
You will have to use the path edit
tool  to change the shape a little bit.  Click on the toggle icon
and you will get 4 red squares.
Check non-free edit mode
To get the the bottom shape,
pull the two red side squares
out slightly and push the bottom red square up  . When it looks like the bottem shape
in the picture on the left click the toggle button again. You will have the black shape back.
Click on the pick tool ,
click on the black bottom you just made and Duplicate it.     This duplicate will be the 4th part you
need to group the candle
To shape this part select the duplicated part,
Click on Transform tool and then flip the duplicated part vertically..

Using the Transform/resize tool, push the bottom square up about
half way.

Select shapes 1-2-3 and 4 and
merge as single object. It might help you align them by
right clicking,align,center horizontally.
See the first
picture above for the arangement.
If your parts don't line up use your transform/resize tool to adjust them.
Go to EDIT-Trace-and choose
image. Accept the default settings and click okay
On the attributes box change the
Mode from horizontal deform to
3D round,
... Select the material box, border/depth tab, and check smooth spline. Set the border to 99 and the depth to 30.

You then need to select
the base 5 piece. Go to
EDIT/Trace/select image, accept default settings and click OK.
On the attributes box change the
Mode from horizontal deform to
3D round, Select the material box
....Check Smooth Spline
Set the border to 99 and the Depth
to 30.
You do not trace part
#6_round shape 4_

In your Easy Pallet go to
Material Gallery. With your top candle part selected, go to Material Gallery/Glass and select L03 for the glass candle tube (or a glass preset you like).
Select Gel G05 (Material Gallery/Gel) for the base (part 5)

Pull them off the black bases and
arrange them, as in the picture.Sending the bottom base(#5) to the back.

Now we will add the bubbles
to the top part.
Select the top candle and from the Easy Pallet,
Particle Gallery, choose Bubbles.
On the first bubble picture,
right click on the picture, and choose Modify
Properties and Apply. Choose
the settings in the screen shot.
Click OK and Apply current frame effect to image.
I use a small light bulb stamp to
add the light. you can download it from here   SMALL BULBS
Scale the light at 75%..you might
have to rotate the bulb, or stamp  and undo and restamp, to get the correct color bulb you want. Then use the Erase Tool (size 20)to remove the bottom of the bulb. With the bulb selected, right click, arrange and send back. You want the bulb between the top candle and the bottom base.
Select the Round Shape, #6 --the thread bottom.
Go to Easy Pallett,Material,
and choose metallic M02
Pull this shape  under your light and
right click/arrange/send to back.

 Now select and merge all
parts as a single object. I
like to save my finished
ornament to Easy Pallet ,
Users Library.
You can also use your black
images and go back and
use the trace tool and make
these in different colors.

I hope you enjoyed making
this ornament and will make
lots of them to string old
fashioned bubble lights on your "virtual" Christmas Tree.
